The first steps of that process went into the books on Saturday with practice and qualifying. Kyle Larson was the best of the Hendrick Motorsports contingent and just missed the pole, turning in a lap of 26.678 seconds in the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevy to earn the second starting spot. Next in line will be William Byron who also earned a top-10 spot with a lap of 26.791 seconds, good enough for ninth. Chase Elliott will fire off from the 26th spot Finally, Anthony Alfredo will roll off 31st in the No. 48 Ally Best Friends Chevrolet. Alfredo is subbing in for Alex Bowman who was diagnosed with vertigo earlier this week. A NASCAR O'Reilly Series race was slated for later Saturday evening with a 7:30 p.m. start time. Corey Day qualified eighth in the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevy on Friday night. Sunday's Cup Series race is set for 3:30 p.m. and will air on FS1.
