Kimi Antonelli claimed his maiden Formula 1 victory at the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai, leading a dominant Mercedes one-two finish with teammate George Russell.
The 19-year-old Italian controlled the race from pole position, managing his tyres effectively over the 56-lap distance to take the chequered flag with a comfortable margin. Russell completed the formation finish, with the W17 proving the class of the field at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton secured third place on the podium in what was a strong weekend for the Scuderia, while Charles Leclerc finished fourth. McLaren endured a difficult race, with both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri failing to start due to technical issues.
The victory made Antonelli one of the youngest race winners in Formula 1 history, capping a remarkable start to his debut season. Having already shown strong pace in Australia, the Chinese Grand Prix result confirmed Mercedes' competitiveness under the 2026 regulations.
